British Modified FLOWER Class Corvette

In 1943, an order for 57 modified flower class corvettes was placed with British shipyards. These ships were designed with greater rake and sheer to the bow than all the previous flower class corvettes, and the forecastle deck was extended further aft for greater accommodation for the crew. In the event, only ten were completed, the rest were cancelled to allow for the construction of more capable escort ships such as the late war frigates.

Italian COMANDANTE Class Corvettes

Designed more as patrol ships than as Corvettes, the four Italian Commandante class ships have all been in commission since 2004. These ships built with stealth technologies, are designed to patrol waters for illegal fishing, illegal immigrants, anti-pirate operations, international traffic control and to operate in the surface combat role.

Russian STEREGUSHCHY Class Corvette

The Steregushchy class are the first stealth Corvette's being built for the Russian Navy, and will replace the ageing Grisha class Corvettes. These ships are designed as large multi role Corvettes for use in Littoral zone operations, engagement of enemy submarines and surface ships, gun support for amphibious landings and anti-aircraft defence.

Swedish VISBY Class Corvettes

The 5 Visby class Corvettes are the latest corvettes completed for the Swedish navy. These corvettes heavily emphasize low visibility and stealth technology, and these features have received much international attention. Made of light weight composite materials such as PVC and Carbon Fibre, this reduces weight which means higher top speed, lower infrared signature and greater survivability in case of fire, as well as many other benefits.
