US WHIDBEY ISLAND and HARPERS FERRY class LSDs

The 8 Whidbey Island class dock landing ships were built and entered US Navy service in 1985. These ships designed with a shallow draught for amphibious assault, also incorporate a very large well deck with stern ramp to receive or launch 4 LCAC Hovercraft or other vehicles for landing marines.
They also have a large flight deck for helicopters or V-22 Osprey aircraft. The 4 follow on Harpers Ferry class ships are in many ways the same, but have greater cargo space at the expense of landing vehicle space and different weapons systems to the Whidbey Island class ships. All these ships are expected to be in service until about the year 2038.
This 1:72 scale hull comes with shaft exit positions, 'A' bracket positions, rudder positions, and anchor positions moulded in.
2,583mm long and 361mm wide.
