US GEARING Class Destroyers

The Gearing class is a group of 99 destroyers built for the US Navy during the end and the immediate post WW2 period, hence few saw little service in that war. These ships were 4.3m longer than the previous Sumner class to create a greater fuel capacity, thus giving them greater range than the Sumner's. These ships served into the 1970's, with many being sold on to 11 other navies, some are still in commission today, a testament to their builders. There are also 7 ships preserved as museum ships in Turkey, South Korea, Taiwan and the US.
This 1:72 scale hull comes with ships plating, shaft exit positions, 'A' bracket positions, rudder positions, and anchor positions moulded in.
1,653mm long and 175mm wide.
